Allari Naresh is going through a dull phase in his career as some of his past few films have not hit the bulls eye. He is back with yet another entertainer in the form of Brother of Bommali. Also starring Karthika Nair as his twin sister, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
Ramki(Allari Naresh) and Lucky(Karthika) are twins who differ in ever aspect. While Ramki is a simple fun loving person, his sister is a dare devil and a tom boy by nature. One fine day, Ramki falls in love with his colleague Shruthi(Monal Gajjar) and revels this with his parents.
Ramki’s father lays a condition that unless his sister is married, he cannot tie the knot. A helpless Ramki starts searching a groom for his sister, but she keeps knocking off all the matches. During this time, Kartika reveals that she loves a IAS officer(Harshvardhan Rane) and will only marry him at any cost. Twist in the tale comes when Ramki finds out that his would be brother in law is getting married to some one else.
What will Ramki do now ? How will he get his sister married ? What happens to his love life ? To know answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on big screen.
Plus Points:-
Comedy angle between Naresh and Karthika is new and has come out quite nicely. All the scenes and situational comedy that has been designed around them works very well. Once again, Allari Naresh proves that he is a master of comedy flick. He plays his role with utmost sincerity and even allows Karthika to dominate him whenever the script demands. Karthika is a apt choice for this film and plays her part supremely well. She is good with her dances and fits nicely into the plot.
Story of the film is interesting and has been nicely written. The way brother and sister relationship has been showcased is also good. The entire first half is very entertaining and is nicely set up for the second. Comedy, romance and fun elements during this period have been executed brilliantly. Vennela Kishore is very good as the funny boss, and plays his part well. Srinivas Reddy and his group of friends ably support Naresh, and bring in hilarious comedy punches throughout the film.
Minus Points:-
With this film, it is once again proved that Tollyood makers love the formulaic safe zone plots. After setting up the first half quite interestingly, the second half has the routine drama and comedy which you see in every movie these days. The story shifts to a smaller town, Brahmanandam’s entry and mistaken identities comedy, this is what you get to see even in this film.
Climax of the film is cleashed and is just hurried on to us. Heroine Monal Gajjar has nothing much to do in the film, and so is Harshvardhn Rane. Ali comes in a for a few laughs but disappears after a while. To many artists have been misused, and have no able roles in the film. Some how Brahmanandam’s role as Kona Venkat does not click this time around. All his scenes are bland and are the same as you see them in umpteen number of films.
Technical Aspects:-
With the budget that this film is made, the entire set up looks very good. Production values are decent and showcase the film nicely. Camerawork is routine and does not hold anything special. Dialogues need a special mention as they have been written brilliantly. One liners are hilarious and those written for Naresh’s sidekicks are very good. Music of the film is just about OK and all songs have been shot decently.
Coming to the director Chinni Krishna, he had an interesting story and has done justice to most part of it. He has maintained the tempo throughout the first half but falters slightly during the second. It is not that the screenplay or direction that is bad here, but it is the overall experience during the second half which is terribly routine and outdated.
Verdict:-
On the whole, Brother of Bommali has the right mix of interesting story and some funny comedy. Complete first half, Naresh and Karthika’s performance are huge plus points. On the flip side, if you do not mind seeing the same old Brahmanandam, routine comedy and a predictable storyline, you can safely watch this film and you would not be disappointed.
